Five Pinoys compete in Indonesian singing contest

Five Filipinos joined a singing contest in Indonesia called the Dangdut Academy Asia 5.

Hannah Precillas, Joshua Manio, Renz Fernando, Sheemee Buenaobra, and Shello de Castro are the five Filipino singers.

Hannah Precillas is a GMA-7 singer best known for winning the Kapuso network's reality talent show Bet ng Bayan in 2014.

Joshua Manio joined the first Pinoy Boy Band competition of ABS-CBN, but he failed to become part of the final BoyBandPH.

In Dangdut Academy, the contestants from the Philippines will compete against 30 other singers from Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Timor Leste, and Indonesia.

Dangdut is a genre of Indonesian folk popular music that combines elements of Hindustani, Arabic, and Malay folk music.

After undergoing workshops and vocal training in dangdut, the Filipino contestants are performing individually and as part of a group (but not together).

Niel Murillo, Russell Reyes, Ford Valencia, Tristan Ramirez and Joao Constancia are the members of the first Pinoy Boyband called BoybandPH. Joshua Manio failed to be part of the boy band, but he still continues to draw some following to this day.

Behind Joshua’s fragile and youthful demeanor is a tough guy who can solve all your technical woes. He’s actually a TESDA-trained automotive mechanic and a fourth year Industrial Engineering student. Aside from his interest in machines, this aspiring heartthrob also has an artistic side. Joshua got his creativity from his mom while he attributes his talent in singing to his dad. But if you ask him about his inspiration in joining the competition, his answer would definitely be his loving grandma who has been supporting his showbiz dream since day one.
